My coaching process is comprised of 5 phases:
- 1. Assess, which considers the client, key stakeholders (via multi-rater feedback instruments or direct interviews), and coach observation as potential sources of input into the identification targets of opportunity for the coaching engagement.
- 2. Goal-set, during which the criteria of Goldsmith's The Intelligent OutcomeTM (positive, valuable, controllable, measurable, explicit, and congruent) are applied to the process of establishing objectives.
- 3. Explore, the core of the work, during which the nature of the obstacles is examined, alternative perspectives are identified and exercised, new tactics and strategies are developed and applied, and a commitment to behavioral changes is solidified.
- 4. Practice, the process of putting into place the new ways of doing and being necessary to ensure ongoing success.
- 5. Integrate, including the actions necessary to monitor results, to activate feedback loops, to ensure that the client stays fully accountable for the changes in behavior that have been developed during the engagement, and to firmly embody the learning that has occurred, so that it can be applied independently to future challenges.
